What Is A Modular Spreader Beam?

Reconfigurable lifting systems for changing spans and project requirements.

A modular spreader beam is assembled from interchangeable end units and struts, allowing the beam length to be reconfigured for different lifting arrangements rather than relying on a single fixed-length beam.

The Multisec core range covers maximum working load limits from 13 tonnes to 250 tonnes. Available span and capacity depend on the selected model and configuration, so the lifting requirement should be checked against the relevant model data before selection.

The core range is DNV Type Approved to DNV-ST-0378. Detailed capacity tables, dimensions, component information and model-specific configuration limits are available on the dedicated Multisec product pages.

Multisec Modular Range

Seven standard models from Multi-13 to Multi-250.

Maximum published span can occur at a reduced working load. Open the relevant model data before specifying a beam for a particular load and span.

Typical Applications

Built for lifts that need span flexibility and controlled load distribution.

The modular format is suited to projects where lifting centres, sling geometry, load distribution or future span requirements make a reconfigurable spreader system useful.

  • Offshore and marine lifting
  • Renewables and energy projects
  • Fabricated structures
  • Plant and machinery handling
  • Construction lifting
  • Industrial shutdowns
  • Heavy engineering projects
  • Project cargo handling
FAQs

Modular spreader beam FAQs.

What is a modular spreader beam?
It is a reconfigurable spreader system assembled from interchangeable components so different beam lengths can be created within the limits of the selected model and configuration.
Can I hire a Multisec modular spreader beam?
Hire enquiries are handled through Durham Lifting. Include the required load, span, lifting centres and project dates so availability can be checked against a suitable configuration.
Are Multisec modular spreader beams DNV Type Approved?
The Multisec core modular spreader beam range is DNV Type Approved to DNV-ST-0378. Model-specific capacity and configuration data should still be checked for the required lift.
What information should I send?
Useful details include load weight, required span, lifting points, headroom, sling arrangement, site conditions, hire or purchase preference, dates and any project certification requirements.
When would I need a multi-point lifting beam instead?
A load that requires several lower pick points or a different four-point arrangement may be better suited to a Multi-Point Lifting Beam or Adjustable H-Frame. Durham Lifting can review the lifting geometry and route the requirement accordingly.
