Leadership from Amanda Gardiner
Durham Lifting is led by Managing Director Amanda Gardiner, whose experience and determination have played a central role in the company’s growth.
Amanda has helped develop Durham Lifting into a multi-service lifting business supporting customers across equipment supply, hire, inspection, cranes, proof load testing and engineered lifting solutions.
Her leadership has also supported continued investment in people, facilities and technical capability, alongside the launch and growth of the Multisec engineered lifting equipment brand.
Building a successful lifting business through vision and determination
Amanda Gardiner’s leadership demonstrates the important role women continue to play in shaping the future of engineering, manufacturing and the wider lifting equipment industry.
Women in engineering and industry
Engineering, manufacturing and lifting have traditionally been seen as male-dominated industries, but women continue to make an increasing contribution across technical, commercial and leadership roles.
A successful lifting business depends on far more than the equipment used on site. It requires planning, project coordination, customer service, commercial awareness, compliance, finance and effective leadership.
Women working across these areas provide skills that are essential to the safe and successful delivery of lifting services and engineered projects.
Creating routes to progress
Women should have access to meaningful opportunities to develop, lead and build long-term careers across industrial sectors.
Valuing every contribution
Progress begins with recognising the knowledge, effort and experience women already bring to businesses and industries.
Building stronger teams
Inclusive workplaces benefit from broader experience, different perspectives and a stronger range of skills.
Strength, resilience and achievement
International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women around the world while recognising the resilience required to overcome barriers and create positive change.
It is also a reminder that progress should continue beyond a single day. Businesses have an ongoing responsibility to support fair opportunities, encourage development and create environments where people are valued for the contribution they make.
Durham Lifting is proud of the women across its team and the experience, commitment and professionalism they bring to the company.
Today we celebrate the women of Durham Lifting and thank them for the knowledge, energy and commitment they bring to the business throughout the year.
Supporting the next generation
Encouraging more women to enter engineering, manufacturing and lifting equipment roles is important for the long-term strength of the industry.
Young women should be able to see clear routes into technical, operational and leadership careers, supported by employers willing to invest in training and development.
By celebrating the women already succeeding within industry, businesses can help make these opportunities more visible and inspire others to consider careers they may not previously have explored.
